January Checklist

IMG_1120.jpg

Often in January we make promises to ourselves. New year, new me and all that jazz. Whether you believe in resolutions, or find them hokey and ridiculous, there is never a bad time to check in with yourself and your home. As we go about our lives we accumulate things. It might be mail on the desk, tupperware filling up the fridge, or maybe it’s mental clutter. Whatever needs cleaning out in your life, go for it. It doesn’t matter if you believe in resolutions or not, every day is a new day to start fresh, but it’s up to you to put the work in.

From there we help our customers with design ideas, product questions, quotes, and orders. We support our clients throughout their construction project, from first quote to final build and beyond. We offer a fast-paced, open work environment with great benefits for a creative, enthusiastic candidate who is willing to learn new things. Windows

pexels-photo-60774.jpegYou can tell because the sun sets at 4:00 and the morning dew on your windshield has turned to ice. The solstice may still be a few weeks away, but for all pragmatic purposes, winter has arrived. If you are surviving the cold snaps by turning up the thermostat and piling on the blankets then maybe it’s time to consider an alternative. Addressing the drafty corners that you’ve been so careful to avoid can help keep you and yours warmer when the of single digit temperatures comes rolling in.

Windows

For windows to be fully sealed, they must be closed and in the locked position. Locking your windows isn’t just to keep people from getting into your home. It helps create a weather tight seal and prevent drafts in your home.

Building the Bar

IMG_8478

Whether it’s family & friends or a gathering of the masses, hosting is a huge part of the holidays. Drinks play a crucial role in this, alcoholic or non. Putting a drink in the hands of your guests, even water, makes people feel more welcome. Having a bar area to serve them makes it easier for you as a host.

Fortunately for us, we are in the age of Pinterest and hand crafted cocktails are coming up in big style.  From beer, wine, and manhattans to sparkling cider, ice tea, or water everybody wants something delicious to drink

Practice Gratitude

practicing gratitude

There is a lot for us to be grateful for, but it’s easy to forget how lucky we are to live here. We take the things and the people we see every day for granted. It happens. The holidays are a perfect time to reconnect with gratitude, to step back, take a breath, and appreciate all of the gifts we have.

Practicing gratitude can help you sit at the table with the family members you don’t agree with. It’s important to remember that we are all just people doing the best we can. And when we come to the table with that in our minds, it’s a lot easier to find gratitude and enjoy the gifts of the holidays.

Subtle & Striking

Sometimes you just need a face lift. Not everything needs to be different to be new, not everything has to change to upgrade your kitchen. A few small changes and updates can do the trick. Upgrading cabinetry can feel daunting. There is a lot that goes into a kitchen renovation. But it doesn’t have to be entirely different to be new.

The transformation of this home is both subtle and striking. As far as design goes, not a whole lot was changed. They were able to move the fridge, it was formerly perpendicular to the rest of the lay out along the back wall, next to the door. By stretching out the kitchen a little, we were able to fit the fridge against the wall with the rest of the cabinetry. Moving the fridge against the wall helps keep the layout clean and keeps the kitchen feeling open.

The kitchen leads to a peninsula before opening into a dining area. Along the wall is a desk for getting work done.

The kitchen leads to a peninsula and then opens to vaulted ceilings and a dining area. There is also a desk for added work space and organization.
